Use this step-by-step playbook when GST portal login fails right before filing deadlines.
Step 1: Identify the exact failure type
- Credential issue: invalid username/password or locked account
- OTP issue: OTP expired, delayed, or not received
- DSC/EVC issue: token/emSigner or Aadhaar validation failure
- Data mismatch: PAN/GSTIN profile mismatch or stale browser session
Step 2: Quick recovery sequence (in order)
- Open GST portal in incognito mode and retry once.
- Run Forgot Username/Password instead of repeated login attempts.
- Clear cached sessions; switch browser if timeout continues.
- For DSC: restart emSigner, reinsert token, run browser as administrator.
- For EVC: verify Aadhaar-linked mobile/email and retry after 5 minutes.
Step 3: Deadline-safe fallback
If one method fails near due date, switch validation path immediately:
- DSC failing → attempt EVC
- EVC failing → switch to DSC with updated token utility
- Persistent mismatch/blocking errors → raise GST grievance ticket with screenshots and error timestamps
